General Application Tips for Tegaderm Transparent Dressing:
Make sure that the Tegaderm dressing can fit over the catheter, insertion site, or wound. There should be at least a one inch margin of transparent dressing attached to healthy skin.
Clip excess hair where Tegaderm is to be applied, but do not shave because of the potential for cuts and abraisons.
Do not stretch Tegaderm transparent dressing. Doing so may cause the adhesive to fail.
For the best adhesion, apply pressure to the Tegaderm transparent dressing from the center out to the edges.
Allow all preps to thoroughly dry before applying Tegaderm transparent dressing.
For custom shapes, use sterile scissors and cut before removing the application liner. If your are using Original Frame or Picture Frame Tegaderm, cut in such a way that two sides of the frame still remain.
Tegaderm Transparent Dressing Removal Hints:
Gently grasp one edge of the Tegaderm and slowly peel from the skin in the direction of hair growth. Try to peel the transparent dressing back over itself, rather than pulling it straight up.
Grab one edge and pull to stretch so that adhesion is minimized.
Use an adhesive remover suitable for skin while peeling the Tegaderm Transparent Dressing
Contraindications for Tegaderm Transparent Dressing:
NOTE: Tegaderm transparent dressing should not be used on persons with sensitivity to iodine. Warning: Tegaderm transparent dressing should not be re-sterilized by any method.
